Sofia Vergara baby and miscarriage scare: Surrogate rushed to hospital?

Sofia Vergara had a miscarriage scare, according to a big scoop the National Enquirer leaked on March 7. The 40-year-old "Modern Family" actress is reportedly using a friend as a surrogate to carry the baby she's having with fiance, Nick Loeb.

“After several hours, it was determined that the baby was fine, and so was the surrogate mom,” a source said to be close to the couple told the Enquirer. “Sofia thanked God that everything was OK.”

The tabloid added that Vergara's fiance wanted to have a child with her, but he didn't want her to lose her sexy figure or have to take a break from her work. She was supposedly hesitant at first, but did some "soul searching" and decided to have a friend carry the baby for them.

The miscarriage scare happened two nights before the Oscars on Feb. 24. Vergara was absent from the awards event, claiming she had the flu.

“Sofia’s surrogate had developed pain and went to the hospital, fearing that she was going to have a miscarriage,” the source said.

Vergara and Loeb were eating dinner in West Hollywood when they got the call and immediately left for the hospital. Some say a coverup for missing the Academy Awards, Sofia posted an Instagram photo of her at home with the flu.

Are Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb expecting a baby via surrogate or it all a rumor?

Vergara is also the mother to a 20-year-old son.
