Sofia Coppola is currently in talks to direct new "Little Mermaid" live-action movie. The 42-year-old director, screenwriter and producer is talking to Universal about bringing the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale to the big screen. According to The Christian Science Monitor on Mar. 19, the script was written by Kelly Marvel of "Fifty Shades of Grey" fame.

However, the project is described by THR (The Hollywood Reporter) as kid-friendly and designed to appeal to a wide range of demographics.

In addition to being famed, Academy Award-winner in his own right director Francis Ford Coppola's only daughter, she has really broken out on her own.

Sofia Coppola is also an actress, appearing in all three "Godfather" films. She was married to director Spike Jonze from 1999 to 2003. It was rumored that "Lost in Translation" was about her marriage to Jonze falling apart, which ended in divorce the same year her film came out.
