Digital entrepreneurs in the social good and entertainment space will share insights on a Social Media Week LA Panel next Thurs, Sept 26, 2013, 5:00-6:30pm at the W Hollywood Hotel / Station Lounge (1st floor). This For Profit and For Good Panel is a free event (register here) and part of a global Social Media Week Conference in eight cities around the world including Berlin, Bogota, Chicago, London, Los Angles, Mumbai, Sao Paolo and Toronto.
Entrepreneurs pushing boundaries will answer the question: Can companies do good and still make profits? This panel was a big hit last year, and most of the same panelists are coming back with many new lessons learned and product updates to share. These CEOs/Founders are making a positive impact with innovative business models, including moderator Eric Doyle (wavesquad), Amber J Lawson (Comedy Gives Back), Brent Freeman (Roozt.com), Chris Brereton (PWRD by), Elizabeth Stewart (The Hub LA), and myself, Liz H Kelly (Goody PR & Goody Awards.)
Hot topics will include: 1) the benefits of cause marketing, 2) successful monetization, marketing, and partnership strategies for building a social good enterprise, 3) the latest trends in cause marketing campaigns, including case studies and best practices, 4) How social media and apps are adding value to social good marketing, 5) Gen Y / Millennial trends and 6) advice for entrepreneurs who want to start their own social good enterprise, including B Corporation Certifications. There will be 15 – 20 min. for attendee questions near the end of the panel session.
Amber J Lawson @amberjlawson @ComedyGivesBack and Story Tech will share insights on their upcoming Nov 6th event. The fundraiser is the first global multi-platform, live-streamed stand up comedy event benefiting their 2013 charity partner, Malaria No More. Comedy Gives Back will produce five live shows and 24 hours of live-stream content with top comedians (Dane Cook, Kevin Nealon, Kevin Pollak and many more) in four cities (LA, NYC, London and Sydney.)
Brent Freeman @Roozt and his team are getting Roozt.com ready for the holidays. This popular retail marketplace showcases products that makes a difference. Brent’s company products have been featured on The Today Show, and his focus is reaching a Gen Y audience (19-35 year-olds) who is engaged in social responsibility.
Chris Brereton @RootChris @PwrdBy, formerly @PictureHealing will talk about his new company’s B2B model building apps for non-profits. Chris will share how PwrdBy has worked with Music Saves Lives, Fender Music Foundation, and is now building apps for Boys and Girls Club. PwrdBy has a new office in Santa Monica and is ramping up on developers.
Elizabeth Stewart @ElizinLA @TheHubLA is dedicated to building a more sustainable, just economy through businesses that value people, planet, and profit. The Hub LA is in downtown Los Angeles and focuses bringing together a community of social good companies in a shared workspace. The Hub LA also holds seminars where social enterprise companies can discuss and learn about Urban Sustainability, Economic Development, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Finance.
Liz H Kelly @LizHKelly @GoodyAwards and Goody PR has been working with Amber J Lawson and her Comedy Gives Back team to promote this big event. She uses her integrated marketing experience from MySpace now for good by developing cause marketing campaigns with multiple tactics (press releases, social media, video, contests, live events and Goody Awards). Liz also has a new Goody Awards product that will be announced at this event that will extend the brand to offline awards that everyone can give and support a great cause.
Many thanks to Eric Doyle @DoyleBrand from wavesquad for helping organize and moderate our panel, and Damian Pellicone @NewMediaVault for setting a slate of panels at the W Hollywood Hotel on Thurs, Sept 26th, and for hosting a fun party afterwards (rsvp here). At the end of this exciting idea exchange day, stick around for New Media Vault’s Official Red Carpet, Speakeasy Networking Party, Press, Prizes and more at the same location and celebrate how digital is doing good.
