Michigan Center for Empowerment and Economic Development is committed to empowering women through business development training, supplier certification, business-to-business networking and accessible capital assistance programs. The company started in 1984 as Ann Arbor Community Development Corporation, receiving a microloan from the City of Ann Arbor with 18 members. The investment has produced more than 4 millio dollars in loans and the creation of 1700 jobs.

The center provides effective business tools, and seeks to remove barriers that hinder development and sustainability of women businesses. The organizations goal is to strengthen the community by creating partnerships and leveraging resources that crease business growth.

Some of the programs offered are as follows:

Business Training & Professional Development (BTPD)
The MICEED Basic Business Building Series offers online or classroom training to entrepreneurs who have started a business without a plan, or those who are beginning the decision-making process.

Women’s Business Enterprise Council – Great Lakes (WBEC-GL)
The (WBEC-GL) serves as a partner with the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) to certify women business owners.

Michigan Women's Marketplace (MWM) www.miwomen.com
The Michigan Women's Marketplace is an online resource and business community for women business owners throughout the state, committed to increasing business opportunities.

Loan Program
CEED provides a loan program that extends credit to businesses that cannot obtain financing through conventional sources.

Small Business Detroit Loan Program
Provides a loan program that extends credit to businesses that cannot obtain financing through traditional sources.

The Michigan Center for Empowerment, and economic development The Michigan Center for Empowerment and Economic Development (MICEED) is presenting a free online webinar series for Women Business Owners. The first webinar will be held, July 10th, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, EST. The webinar is entitled, social media for the small business owner. The presenter is Robin Kinnie.
