Social media addiction is real, whether or not it is a recognized condition or illness in the clinicians journal of diagnosis, the DSM-V. How many people wake up and check how many friend requests or followers they have gained. Why do we care how many. It gives self confidence, an ego boost, and a release of feel good chemicals in your brain. So, is that to say we are all ego maniacs who spend hours on social media sites.
It is much easier and acceptable to log onto a site at 2 AM, then to do drugs or have a drink, but yet when it is how you spend your entire evening, it is questionable on present addiction. There is no rock bottom, so how does one ever get there. How do you treat it.

That statement alone tells us at an alarming rate of it's addictive nature.
So, do you plan your posts around 140 characters or less, check-in your location, post according to what is trending often and spend more time online than socially.
