The Philadelphia Union have gotten off to a busy start to their preseason between team training, Philadelphia introducing Maurice Edu Tuesday, and Christian Maidana tweeting he is on his way to meeting up with the team.

On Thursday, Sochaux officially announced that midfielder Vincent Nogueira will be leaving on a transfer to the Union.

As's Jonathan Tannenwald reports, Nogueira will be the Union's third Designated Player with Maidana and Edu being the Union's other two DPs.

Nogueira's addition to the club has been anticipated for awhile now. Back on Jan. 13, Philly Soccer Page first reported the Union's interest in the 26-year old. The club wanted the midfielder at the season's beginning rather than during the Summer transfer window.

Specific contract details have not been released, but the Union have confirmed Thursday the transfer pending visa completion. Team Manager John Hackworth spoke about Nogueira's addition

“We’re very happy to have finalized the deal with Vincent and are looking forward to him joining his teammates in Florida for preseason,” team manager John Hackworth said. “As a player who has captained a club like Sochaux for several years, we think he brings a lot of quality to our club individually and can be an important piece for our club going forward.”

As the Union continue to train and prepare for their upcoming preseason games, the earlier Nogueria joins the club the better for both the player, but also for the team as well.

Nogueria now official arrival brings in yet another playmaker to the Union's midfield, which was clearly the team's Achilles heel last season.
