Sober House with Dr. Drew - Episode 6 Recap, plus, Jenn loses controI.  04/17/2010 - Lori Koff/Self Help Reality TV --  It's been a stressful couple of weeks, particularly for house manager Jenn Gimenez who has had a struggle at every turn with the residents this season.

She's had struggles with Dennis Rodman, Tom Sizemore, Kari Ann Peniche and Mike Starr. Jenn is a recovering addict and so her disease can be triggered around addicts who are using. She knows that their relapsing threatens her own sobriety.

On top of that, the violence and aggression that has emerged, has triggered her own post-traumatic stress disorder issues from violence in her remote past. Part of Jenn's job as house manager is to enforce the rules, but on day 15 she lost control.

Most addicts have legal problems and in Dennis Rodman's case he had to appear in court for not fulfilling his community service hours related to a domestic violence case. Dr. Drew states that Dennis has remained in massive denial about not just how serious his alcoholism is, but the consequences of his behaviors. It is as if the court documents have no meaning to him. Dr. Drew decides to show him some disturbing video footage in hopes of communicating to him how alcohol effects his behavior.

This year I began watching Celebrity Rehab followed by Sober House. I have been very disappointed in Dr Drew for the lack of accountability he requires of patients. His stance is to coddle these self-absorbed patients. This stance is required of staff also. I do not understand how they will ever be able to function in the real world. My hat's off to Jenn Gimenez! God bless her! She has tried to enforce reasonable expectations from spoiled brats. Drew comes off as more concerned w/patients staying than backing Jenn. Sad! I just hope she understands what a beautiful person she is and she obviously is a very strong lady. She should be commended for the job she is doing given the group Drew put her in. Up to now, it appears the only one really "getting it" is Jennie Ketcham. This is evident by her defense of Jenn in group session. I am really pulling for this girl! J & J (and anyone else wakes up) need to remember that it is never too late to live happily ever after!

I don't think Dr Drew was fair to Jenn. All the addicts, with the exception of sex addict that use to be a dominatrix, make excuses for everything. Heidi, Tom, Seth, and the sex addict with the large breast implants are all hypocrites. They are manipulative and Dr Drew excuses them just because of their addictions. The negative vibes are there because they're negative and not because of Jenn. They think they're entitled because they're addicts. Well, I've had a rough life and I didn't do the cowardly thing and numbed myself.

The bottom line is that Mike doesn't respect women. Maybe the women he knows are cxxxx. He said that the incident reminded him of fights with his parent. Please, he has been a addict for so long, he can't remember anything passed five years old. He is manipulative and Dr Drew fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Dr Drew should reprimand him

Dr Drew, I'm disappointed in you!!!! Jenn you are worth so much more. Hold your ground and I'm praying for you!

I was watching your program and overheard some of your clients refer to Jenn as a professional. What an insult to the feild, she's dangerous. This woman has very little belly control and appears just as immature as the client, way to go Jenn.
Who interviewed this woman, she played the game well to get the job. Please suggest to Jenn that she must confront her own issues before trying to assist others in their battles against substance abuse.
How can a single staff member decide to throw a client out of treatment without consulting with their superiors first and is not Dr.Drew the Director???

Would someone please look at the behavior of the professional and if Doctor Drew is treating the clients like babies, shame on him. Pampering does not help the addict who at times can be very cunning and ruthless. Time to grow up and be responsible.

First; Jenn has issues, major issues! She is the house manager, yes, but she is not these people's sponsor nor their parent. As a house manager, it is simply her responsibility to inform the clients of the rules, (have them posted) make sure no one is using drugs or alcohol, and to hold weekly house meetings where herself and the residents discuss the weekly chore schedule for the following week, along with any other pertinent issues affecting the residents and the house as a whole. It is NEVER acceptable behavior to engage in any type of confrontational behavior with the residents. Jenn is supposed to be the sober one here swearing, screaming and invading a persons personal space are triggers that will illicit exactly the type of behavior she got from Mike. Jenn IS NOT house manager material and needs to be replaced not only for her own safety but that of the residents as well. I am speaking as someone who has 20+yrs as a successful house manager and AA sponsor.
