Soaps ratings reach all time highs

According to a CBS press release,“The Young and the Restless” had its best week since January 2010 with an overwhelming 5.47 million viewers. The #1 soap is gaining viewers and reigning over all four soaps.

“The Bold and the Beautiful” had a weekly audience of 4.14 million viewers for the week ending Sunday, January 12. Meanwhile,

Meanwhile, ABC’s “General Hospital” is on it's way to their best season since the 2006/2007 television season. . The soap had its largest single episode audience in total viewers on Tuesday, January 7 with 3.55 million viewers. The last time a GH audience for a single episode reached those numbers was November 12, 2007.

Days Of Our Lives is doing great for the second week in a row. The show is up 17% in total viewers compared to last year, with 3 million viewers with 2.6 million in 2012. Neilsen reports the week of January 6 through the 10th saw 688,000 women 18-49, up from last week’s number of 669,000. This is the biggest audience since November 21-25, 2011.

Soaps are here to stay, growing by leaps and bounds. Add in prime time and online soaps and we can say the longest running shows in television history is still going strong.
