So you want to be a ghost hunter ...

Ghost HunterPeople become ghost hunters for many reasons – they’ve recently experienced a loss and are looking for proof of life after death, they’ve experienced something they can’t explain and are looking for answers, or they just want a thrill.  You have a reason as well, and whatever it is, there's something you need to know before you take off on your first paranormal adventure.

I’m frequently asked what a person needs in order to become a good ghost hunter, and the main thing any good paranormal investigator needs is patience.  You may find your proof, you may find your answers, and you might even experience a thrill or two, but in order to find anything you’ll definitely need more than a little patience.

Spirits don’t appear on command.  It takes a great deal of energy for them to present themselves in a form that we can view and interact with, and we have to wait for that precise moment when all things come together.  It’s not frequent, and it can’t be forced.

Unless you’re extraordinarily fortunate, you’ll go on numerous hunts, investigations and outings before you see or experience anything.  You could spend hundreds of hours waiting for a noise, a vision or a touch.  You'll listen to hundreds of hours of audio tapes, and you'll watch thousands of hours of videos.  You’ll take hundreds of pictures of which only 10% will contain anomalies.  Of that 10%, you’ll be able to explain 99% of them.  And then, if you're lucky, you'll have one little bit of evidence, but it’s those few photos and experiences that you just can’t explain that you patiently await.

So, if you want to be a ghost hunter, the one thing you’ll definitely need is patience.  And lots of it.
