On Wednesday night “So You Think You Can Dance” began with 157 dancers vying for a spot in the top 20, they all went through several dance routines that demanded all the passion and intensity that each one possessed. However, there could only be 20 and the field quickly began to be narrowed down, and several who were favorites during the auditions, found themselves struggling with the choreographies and subsequently did not make it through.

There were some favorites who were asked to dance for themselves after the choreography because there was something in them, that the judges liked, but unaware to pin down, a talent without question that had to be explored once again despite the choreography not being their best moment. Jessica Richens was one, and the judges could only wish her good luck, and once she began dancing it was obvious as to why she had been a call back; her dancing was outstanding and the judges were mesmerized without question she went through. Also, Bridget Whitman was asked to dance for her life, and everyone hoped that she would nail it because she is an awesome dancer and she received the 3 yeses required to move to the next round.

Then there was the group routines, where the remaining dancers come together in groups of 5 and randomly pick a soundtrack around which they must create a choreography and many of them came short, the first group were wrong all around according to the judges and were asked to among them pick the one they felt should go home, but at the end of the day they could not and chose to eliminate themselves if such was the consequence, but Nigel Lythgoe, -judge and executive producer-, explain that such unity was what he look for and put all 5 through.

And then there were 44 that once again were asked to perform solos for one last chance to impress the judges, and then it was time for the top 20 to be chosen, and those are: Malene, Zack, Emily, Serge, Carly, Emilio, Tanisha, Stanley, Valerie, Nick, Bridget, Marcquet, Jacque, Rudy, Brooklyn, Teddy, Jessica, Casey, Jourdan, and Ricky. They are all extraordinary dancers who will undoubtedly mesmerize week after week with outstanding routines; this will be one of “So You Think You Can Dance” most memorable and unforgettable season yet.

“So You Think You Can Dance” runs on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
