The season six Top 14 dancers performed on "So You Think You Can Dance" November 17, 2009. While there were some moments that drew in negative comments, the overall consensus for the night was pure magic, and the phrases "killed it" and "nailed it" were finally brought out.
The performances
Karen & Kevin - Broadway
- Adam - Enjoyed a different side of Karen; Good for the show, although not great for the couple
- Nigel - Didn't enjoy Karen's performance, possibly because she was playing cute not sexy; Kevin didn't bring the humor needed for the character; Didn't see the connection
- Mary - Kevin's shoulders were up too high most of the time; Karen faired better than Kevin; No connection
- Manchester TV Examiner - Kevin was the biggest surprise of the performance because he really shined; Karen was OK, but I don't think she was great; Choreography was a little boring for me; No wow appeal
Ashleigh & Jakob - Hip-Hop
- Adam - Jakob is the most sure bet for Top 10 the show has every had; Now believes Ashleigh could make the Top 10
- Nigel - Jakob continues to step up to the plate when it comes to choreography; Ashleigh has grown as a dancer faster than he expected and is definitely contributing to the routines
- Mary - Couldn't believe how believable Ashleigh was: Great choreography; Jakob hit it
- Manchester TV Examiner - Loved the choreography; Didn't buy Ashleigh's crying; Enjoyed the fact that they didn't just have Jakob leaping around tonight
Kathryn & "Legacy" - Paso Doble
- Adam - Kathryn killed it; So impressed with how much more stamina "Legacy" has now versus at the Las Vegas auditions
- Nigel - Kathryn's dancing seemed to mature a lot since last week; Will be very proud of "Legacy" if he makes it in to the Top 10
- Mary - Kathryn was right on the money; Can't believe how much "Legacy" grows and delivers each week
- Manchester TV Examiner - Incredible passion and heat from both dancers; Both really brought everything they had to the table; My favorite performance from them this season
Channing & Victor - Jazz
- Adam - Channing danced beautiful and needs to keep it going; Victor needs to let himself go
- Nigel - Really enjoyed Channing's performance because it was the first time he felt like she looked confident; Victor needs to remember to push himself as a dancer
- Mary - Couple definitely brought the piece to life; Victor is consistent but needs to dig deeper for the star moment; Fun to see Channing get in to the character and finally let go
- Manchester TV Examiner - Amazing routine; Beautiful but in an odd way; The technical parts were near perfect; Dancers were in perfect sync when necessary; One of my favorite dances of the season
Ellenore & Ryan - Contemporary
- Adam - Couple made Adam so proud to watch it and made him catch his breath; Ryan's level of commitment to the story was far beyond Ballroom; Ellenore was ridiculously great
- Nigel - Felt the pair had locked themselves in to be in the competition next year; Love how effortless Ryan makes the jumps and lifts look; Ellenore is a complete, all around, brilliant performer
- Mary - Ellenore is constantly having star quality moments because of her beauty and technique; Ryan's timing was perfect throughout the entire routine, and his performance was magical
- Manchester TV Examiner - Couple danced absolutely stunning together; Beautiful choreography; Could feel the passion, emotion, connection; Favorite performance from them this season; Loved the moments when they would intertwine their bodies
Mollee & Nathan - Pop Jazz
- Adam - Sync was good; Pay attention to the things and people the judges are praising
- Nigel - Mollee has the talent but needs the commitment; Nathan has the potential to be one of the best dancers the show has ever had, but he needs to grow and mature quickly in order to reach full potential on the show
- Mary - Intense from both sides: Mollee was perfection tonight; Nathan was on the money, too; Didn't giver her chills, though
- Manchester TV Examiner - Couple had moments when they were completely in sync and moments when they were completely out of sync; Really interesting choreography; Not my favorite performance of the night; Saw Mollee come out of character a few times while looking down or away from the stage
Noelle & Russell - Foxtrot
- Adam - Both dancers were fantastic
- Nigel - Russell improved a lot since the last time he did the Foxtrot; Love that Noelle is always striving to better herself
- Mary - Russell made the Foxtrot look effortless; Noelle was technically fantastic
- Manchester TV Examiner - Didn't feel any chemistry between the pair; Need to work on some of their holds; Loved the over-the-back flip/lift
