Two students at the Gateway Charter High School turned in a teacher on Friday to the School Resource Officer after witnessing Matthew Eric Emans take a puppy out of the trunk of his vehicle, walk the dog, and then put the dog back into the trunk of his car as reported by Fox4.com.
Emans, 28, was asked by the officer to open his trunk where the puppy was panting heavily and in need of water.
The four-month-old Staffordshire terrier named Oakley was surrendered to the Lee County Domestic Animal Shelter where he is now available for adoption.
Emans has been charged with animal cruelty. If found guilty, he faces a maximum one year jail sentence and a $5,000 fine.
