Snuggle up and indulge your senses at Spa Terre at Riviera Palm Springs (Photos)

The candle-lit Buddha lounge at Spa Terre at the Riviera Palm Springs was almost tailor-made for lovers with its chaises built for two, romantic whirlpool with soothing waterfall where you can hold hands and bliss out, and private, little cabana-like hideaways. This is where you wait for your therapist to take you by the hand and escort you to the dreamy room where your treatment will take place. You get so comfy, you almost don’t want to leave, but with a massage, facial or some salubrious body indulgence waiting, you do.

With its home in in an iconic hotel that once catered to A-list 1959-60s Hollywood such as Frank Sinatra and his rat pack, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis, Jr., Eva Gardner and other glam queens, the spa also reflects a retro nostalgia. If you close your eyes you could almost see Ole Blue Eyes and the gang rehearsing their numbers (the spa was converted from the actual rehearsal room).

In addition to the luscious lunch, Spa Terre provides impossibly plush robes, slippers, steam rooms, lockers, beauty essentials and snacks and beverages. The treatment menu is very extensive and can be viewed here at http://www.psriviera.com/palm-springs-spa-services.aspx. Prices run about normal for an upscale resort with exotic Javanese Royal Treatments going for $250 for 110 minutes, massages starting at $130 for 50 minutes and so forth. A 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. There are specials to be had so do phone ahead (866-588-8311) or check on the web site.

By-the-way, the Riviera's knock down spectacular pool is just outside the spa and included when you book a treatment. There's also a fitness center next door.
