Snuggle's new Scent Boosters add a touch of wonderful scent to your laundry without using liquid fabric softener.

Sun Products Corporation provided me with a sample package of their new Lavender Joy Snuggle Scent Boosters in return for an honest review. You can find Scent Boosters now in both Lavender Joy and Blue Iris Bliss scents at Walmart stores and nationwide in March.

The Scent Boosters look similar to laundry gel packs and function much the same, in that you add them before your laundry load with no need to measure and no potential for mess or spillage. Sun Products seems to have aimed Scent Boosters at those who enjoy the lasting scent of liquid fabric softener but dislike the measuring and potential for messy spillage, overuse or greasy stains on clothing.

For testing purposes, I used my normal laundry detergent along with fabric softener dryer sheets. Scent Boosters supplement fabric softener rather than replace it.

The instructions say to use one gel pack for small or medium loads or two packs for larger loads, tossed into the washing machine with the detergent, before adding your laundry. With my normally large laundry loads, I did need to use two Scent Booster packs to notice a lingering fragrance on my laundry. I use a regular top-loading washing machine, but Scent Boosters work in high-efficiency front-loading models as well.

I was skeptical about a laundry product that does nothing other than leave behind a floral scent. However, I'm finding the lavender Snuggle Scent Boosters quite addicting. The lovely aroma on clean laundry also lasts longer than any fabric softener I've tried.

The cost might put off some buyers, though. At a suggested retail price of $3.99 for 20, large loads using two gel packs would set you back about 40 cents each. You'd probably spend just a few pennies for each dryer sheet that you'd need to use in conjunction with Scent Boosters. Snuggle's dryer sheets only cost about 3 cents apiece if you buy a pack of 200 for $5.97 at Walmart.

You should be able to use coupons and sales to lower the cost of Snuggle Scent Boosters so that, as splurges go, it would be a low cost one.

If you fancy a lovely floral fragrance on your clothing and sheets, Snuggle Scent Boosters will surely do the job well.
