Well it’s Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney, PA was in full swing for the yearly seasonal forecast by Phil, the groundhog. Word is he did NOT see his shadow. Yet, it seems that winter has no end in sight. WFMZ is reporting two more storms lined up and on the way into next week. Yikes. So in the meantime – in between the hearts and Valentines and until the end of February – enjoy some snowy reads.

The Snowman by Raymond Briggs is a classic – and has been republished in activity books, DVDs, movies, audio CDs, plush toys and much mush more. See The Snowman website for more information. This charming tale is set around Christmastime but children love the wonders of snow and wintertime. There is nothing more whimsical than that magical snowman. Share this charming tale about young James, his magical snowman friend and their adventures on winter night.

Another cute book about animal friends and their snowman adventures is Snow Friends by M. Christina Butler and Tina Macnaughton. When Little Bear wakes in a snowy wonderland he wants to play – he wants to make a snowman. Soon his two friends Otter and Rabbit come to help him with his snowman. The three friends work all day long and then relax under the snowy moon and stars.

Enjoy these last few weeks of winter and share these snowy reads.
