See also

Arapahoe Basin, or A-Basin, became the first resort in Colorado to open for the 2013-2014 season on October 13, 2013. Favorable temps and even some natural snowfall helped open the resort. A-Basin also gets the marketing bragging rights as the first resort in the U.S. to open for the 2013-2014 season.

Each year, a race between A-Basin and neighboring Loveland Ski Area, both situated on the Continental Divide, compete for the coveted title of the first resort open in Colorado and more importantly, open in the U.S. Loveland is scheduled to open October 17, 2013, becoming the second resort in Colorado and the U.S. to open for the season.

The snowmaking arms race is fascinating to watch and the amount of web traffic that each resort, Loveland and A-Basin, receive is tremendous. More resorts will open come November. One thing is for certain, the 2013-2014 season has begun!
