Snowmaking arms race 2011: A-Basin or Loveland?

Who will open first for the 2011-2012 ski season?  Last year, Loveland Ski Area right off of Interstate 70 won the title.  Will they repeat or will Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) hold this title?  Colorado has been issued winter storm watches and warnings for elevations above 9,000 feet.

Both A-Basin and Loveland are ready.  They have tested guns and have them in the correct locations.  Now with a little help from Mother Nature, the arms race is on.  A-Basin's COO and Vice President, Alan Henceroth, explains on his blog that when the wet bulb temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit, snowmaking is at its best.

It will only be a matter of time until we are skiing and riding on the white blanket of snow.  The countdown is on!
