Snowbird Baseball Classic underway with Division III college teams starting third day of play

The second year of the Snowbird Baseball Classic tournament began Sunday, February 28 with Capital University and John Carroll University notching wins against John Jay College. Monday’s action saw Cedarville University taking two from Capital and John Carroll stealing a squeaker from North Carolina Wesleyan University.

Those same five teams will have at it again today, with three games at North County Regional Park and one at South County. You can check schedules and results on the web. Better yet, plan to get out to a game. The tourney runs until March 20, with the four Division I squads (Duquesne, St. Louis, Farleigh Dickinson, and Ohio State) starting play this Friday.

The primary tournament venues are North County Regional Park on O’Donnell Boulevard in Port Charlotte and South County Regional Park on Cooper Street in Punta Gorda. There are four practice and secondary venues: Port Charlotte, Venice, North Port, and Charlotte high schools.

Admission is $5.00 daily, with $20.00 for a seven-day pass.
