A family trip to San Diego would not be complete without a trip to the San Diego Zoo. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/ Ranked second in the world by the AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums), the San Diego Zoo has something for everyone.
Watch a Polar Bear play with a big round red ball in the water or swim back and forth in front of the viewing glass in the Northern Frontier. At the Discovery Post visit the Petting Zoo or visit the playful otters.
The zoo has four main walkways and nine trails. It is best to look at the map and get a good lay of the land before starting your adventure. Must sees for the zoo are the Giant Panda and the Koala Bear, two species that are found in only a few zoos.
There are numerous tours that can be taken and there are regularly scheduled Keeper Talks. Throughout the zoo, staff is available to answer questions. Question/answer stations are available to learn about different animals during the day. It is a great place to learn about animals from around the world in a fun and entertaining way.
Before arriving at the zoo, look for discount coupons or multi-day/multi-park passes for the San Diego Zoo, San Diego Safari Park and Sea World. www.sandiegozoo.org/tickets/zootickets.html
