Snow to Sun: Nebraska to California in no time (Part five) San Diego Safari Park (Photos)

While the San Diego Zoo is listed as one of the best zoos in the United States, The San Diego Safari Park provides a great experience for anyone who visits. The park does a great job in visitors seeing the animals in as natural a state as possible without visiting the native land of these animals. http://www.sdzsafaripark.org/

See giraffe picking leaves off a tree next to a herd of Sable Antelope. Or take a zip-line from the Asian Savanna to the African Plains. Take an African Tram which takes you along the perimeter of the wilds of Africa or watch a cheetah race. There is a lot to see when visiting.

The park was opened to the public in 1972 but its main purpose is as a breeding facility. It was developed to help in providing animals to other zoos so they would not need to be taken out of the wild but also to help in the breeding of endangered species.

These additional tours could add anywhere from $40.00-$95.00 to your cost. Overnight packages are offered for $140.00 additional and up.

If visiting San Diego, the San Diego Safari Park is the way to view animals in their natural setting.
