A large area of low pressure will gather strength across the southern Plains today. Clouds in advance of that system have already reached northeastern OH, and these clouds will lower and thicken throughout the day. Light snow could reach the southwestern areas before sunset.
Tonight, the low will continue to intensify as it moves northeastward to TN. Snow will overspread the entire area this evening, then fall heavily at times overnight. Some sleet and freezing rain could mix with the snow, mainly in locations near and south of Route 30.

Snow will be heavy at times in the morning, then gradually diminish and taper to snow showers during the afternoon. Winds will increase creating areas of blowing and drifting snow.
Lake effect snow showers are possible Wednesday night and Thursday morning before high pressure finally builds across the state. Arctic air will make a return on Thursday with highs not making it out of the teens.
