Snow showers today, then milder with rain likely on Friday

Low pressure over Quebec will funnel cold air southeastward across the region today. Scattered snow showers are likely through the morning, with activity gradually diminishing this afternoon as drier air spreads across the area. It will be blustery and cold for this first day of Spring.

High pressure will move across northern Ohio tonight with fair weather expected.

A warm front will lift northward across our area on Friday. Rain showers are likely, possible beginning as a little wet snow during the morning. Temperatures during the afternoon will rise to around 50 degrees, ensuring all precipitation by that time is liquid.

The rain showers will continue through Friday night and into Saturday morning, possibly mixing with or changing to snow showers. A cold front will move across the area Saturday afternoon, bringing an end to the showers and ushering in a much colder air mass for the second half of the weekend.

Here is the forecast: For today, mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers, mainly this morning. Highs will be around 40. Winds W 10-20 mph with higher gusts.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 20s. Winds W 10-15 mph.

Friday, mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Precipitation may start as a few wet snow showers during the morning. Highs will be near 50 degrees. Winds S 5-10 mph.

Friday night, cloudy with occasional showers. Lows will be in the mid 30s.

Saturday, mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow showers. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s.

Extended Analysis: High pressure will build across the region Sunday and Monday bringing cold temperatures. There could be a few lake effect snow showers Sunday, but Monday should be dry.

A storm system is forecast to track from the Tennessee Valley to the Mid Atlantic states by Tuesday. Some snow could make it as far north and west as our area, but there is a great deal of uncertainty regarding the track of the storm. Temperatures will remain well below seasonal averages through the middle of next week.

Sunday, mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers. Highs will be around 30.

Sunday night, mostly cloudy with lows in the teens.

Monday night, mostly cloudy with lows around 20.

Tuesday, mostly cloudy with a chance of snow. Highs will be in the low 30s.
