A brief break in the activity is expected overnight tonight. Then, a storm system developing across the Plains States will track east into the Ohio Valley on Wednesday as it intensifies. Snow will spread back across the area late tonight or early Wednesday. The snow will continue through Wednesday night with several inches of accumulation possible.

As the system moves to our east on Thursday, winds will shift to the north and the synoptic snow will transition to lake effect snow with additional accumulation likely across the entire area.

The lake effect snow will persist in Thursday night, then gradually taper off.

Tonight, cloudy with a chance of snow showers this evening, then snow developing after midnight, especially across the northern half of the area. Lows will be in the mid teens. Winds W 5-15 mph.

Wednesday night, snow with lows around 20 degrees.

Looking ahead: Lake effect snow will continue into Thursday night, then gradually diminish from west to east late Thursday night or early Friday. High pressure will build across the region on Friday with skies becoming partly sunny by afternoon. Lows Thursday night will be around 5 degrees with highs on Friday 10 to 15.

Friday night will be mostly clear with lows ranging from -5 to 5. Saturday will be partly sunny and not as cold with highs near 30.
