Snow finally falls

The Sierra east of Sacramento have something new today: snow. The snow started falling yesterday, and continues today, Thursday, January 30.

It is a very welcomed and much needed bit of good news for the snow sports crowd. Two resorts, Tahoe Donner and Donner Ski Ranch are closed due to a lack of snow.

Here is what the others are reporting for snow totals from this storm:

Heavenly: 7 inches

Boreal: 6 inches

Diamond Peak: 8 inches

Sugar Bowl: 7 inches

Alpine Meadows: 6 inches

Squaw Valley: 6 inches

Northstar: 7 inches

Kirkwood: 8 inches

Sierra-at-Tahoe: 6 inches

Soda Springs: 4 inches

Mt. Rose: 7 inches

Homewood: 3 inches

Granlibakken: 7 inches

The good news is that it continues to snow. The resorts are hoping that this storm will double the amount of snow that the storm has already graced the slopes with.

If you've been looking for fresh snow to cavort in, now is the time to head up to Tahoe and strap on the skis and boards. It's what we've been waiting for.
