Snow day in July for dogs: Canines invited to wear fur coats and bark about it

On Saturday, dogs enjoyed a snow day. Yes, it's August 23, but Unleashed by Petco organized the annual event called Petco's Summer Snow Day, and with it came 20 tons of snow in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Boston.

In Washington, D.C., dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds romped, rolled and sniffed the cold stuff from 9:00 a.m. until melting time at the Reston Town Center Plaza. In New York City, the white stuff fell at Riverside Park, and in Boston, it was a snowy canine wonderland at Hingham located at 6 Shipyard Drive.

Sadly the doggy fun had to be suspended this year in two locations in California because of the drought.

The free event, a celebration for all of our canine friends, also offered pet adoption opportunities, treats, and a great time to socialize with other dogs and owners.

Some dogs have all the luck. Make sure you check out the happy doggy faces from the snow day fun.

In case you missed it this year, Petco Unleashed promises next year will be even more fun.
