Snow day breakfast ideas: waffles with raspberries and white chocolate

When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels. ~Author Unknown looks like winter in Minnesota. While warm temps and a lack of snow have been welcome for most of us, my kids were feeling robbed of one of the great traditions of winter in the Midwest: a snow day. Today we were graced with one. It stands to reason then that awakening to a surprise day off should be followed with a festive breakfast. This recipe for waffles with raspberries, white chocolate chips and powdered sugar fits the bill perfectly.

Waffles with raspberries and white chocolate chips


  • 6 precooked, non-frozen waffles (mine were purchased in the dessert section at Costco in Eden Prairie, MN) They are individually wrapped.
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 pint fresh raspberries
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar


Heat waffles briefly in a wide slot toaster or for about 20 seconds in the microwave. Sprinkle with white chocolate chips, a few raspberries and top with powdered sugar.

Additional options:

Melt the white chocolate chips and drizzle over the waffles

Substitute semisweet chocolate chips instead of the white chocolate chips
