Is that Snoopy Island? Commuters flying the friendly skies in Japan might have a shocking moment when they look out the window. With the birth of a new island off the coast of Japan, the landmass has come together with another existing parcel creating the look of the dog Snoopy from “Peanuts.” Huffington Post reported on Friday that the island is getting massive attention online as the shape is familiar.
The land mass has taken weeks to develop and while there isn’t any people on the island. Being that it is about 600 miles south of Tokyo, all individuals have done so far is watch the actual island steadily grow and combine into one interesting looking figure. While nobody knows for sure if the island will stay the same size or get bigger, for now it is being dubbed “Snoopy Island.”
So what makes people think about the characters drawn by Charles Schulz? The widely loved white dog has been seen quite a bit over the holiday season. With Charlie Brown Christmas specials and even a New Year’s special, the popular comic characters of “Peanuts” have been in the minds of fans for the past couple of weeks.
