Snoop Lion says rap and being gay don’t mix

Snoop Lion, formerly known as Snoop Dog speaks out about rap and being gay, he seems to feel the two just don’t mix. He not only feels they don’t mix, but also feels a rapper could never make it in the world of rapping if he pronounces he’s gay, it just simply won’t be accepted. During a recent interview with HuffPost Entertainment, the well-known and long standing rapper admits he supports same-sex marriage, but in the rap world it simply doesn't fit.

Snoop feels there’s a masculinity piece to hip-hop/rap music that creates a challenge for gay musicians. He says, “It’s like a football team. You can’t be in a locker room full of motherf***ing tough a** dudes, then all of a sudden say, Hey man, I like you.” He added, “You know, that’s going to be tough.”

According to The Guardian, Snoop was asked about Grammy Award winning hip-hop artist, Frank Ocean and the fact that he came out in a blog last year. The rapper was asked did he think with Ocean coming out, would this pave the way for other gay rappers? Snoop answered and says, “He’s a singer, not a rapper. It’s acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world, I don’t know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine.”

The long-standing rapper made it clear to note, that the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community seems to be more open-minded. He also noted, “It’s the nature of the biz, I don’t have a problem with gay people, I got some gay homies.”

What do you think, do you feel rap is very similar to the sports world and will always be frowned upon and simply never accepted?
