Snooki's 42-pound weight loss: How Snooki lost weight with 1,300-calorie diet, Express Home Meals, exercise
Former reality show star Snooki Polizzi has sent the searchers searching for her weight-loss secrets after an Us Magazine cover revealed her 42-pound weight loss after Snooki gave birth to her baby Lorenzo in August 2012. Now we know Snooki secrets: a 1,300 calorie-a-day diet, plus workouts with her personal trainer, all things which helped her lose the 42 pounds she put on during her pregnancy.
"If you want to weigh 160 pounds, eat 1,600 calories a day," advised my Cleveland/Akron-area doctor, giving a handy way to remember a ballpark figure for the amount of calories to eat to weigh a certain amount. He also recommended MyFitnessPal.com, a handy website that has free apps that allow us to track our calories eaten and those burned via exercise.
It makes sense, then that 4-foot-8 Snooki, has dropped from 144 pounds to 102, thanks to her 1,3000-calorie per day diet and 4-day per week workouts.
"I lost the first 20 (pounds) in two months, just from breastfeeding. And then right when I was able to work out - after six weeks - I went into the gym with a new trainer Anthony Michael," Snooki said.
"I was so excited because I hadn't worked out in six months. When I go there, I was like 'Let's do this!'"
Indeed, this reporter can attest to how much breast-feeding helps new mothers lose weight. But beyond that, tracking and cutting calories with the help of a food diary is a great weapon to have in our weight loss arsenal as well. Snooki admitted to gorging herself on junk food during the last three months of her pregnancy -- eating brownies and pasta -- because she knew she'd go on a low-calorie diet after the birth of her baby.
"But when I started working with Anthony, he put me on his Express Home Meals," Snooki says, pointing to a website that returns an error right now for the meals link. "I eat things like a burger wrapped in lettuce or a salad with strawberries and chicken."
Snooki now lives in New Jersey with Jionni LaVelle in his parent's basement, and says that it wasn't as hard as she thought it would be to get back to her workouts, even though she had a long break from the "GTL" life while she was pregnant.
"I don't like doing legs - that's the worst. But I like when he works my arms. Now, when I hold Lorenzo, you can see my arm muscles. I've been trying go every day, but it's usually four days a week," she said. "I feel great. I have a lot energy because I work out so much and the endorphins put me in a good mood. And when you're skinnier, you feel so much better about yourself."
