Presidential candidate Mitt Romney says he has a little thing for "Jersey Shore" star Snooki. Seriously? Has he ever actually watched the girl on TV? The GOP candidate admitted he had a little crush on Nicole Polizzi, the four-foot nothing celebrity who is famous for her drunken antics and for having a new baby out-of-wedlock over the summer of 2012 with her Guido boyfriend Jionni.
Not your typical "Jersey Shore' fan, the husband of the now famous Anne Romney confessed his affection for the half pint reality television star during an interview on "Live! With Kelly and Michael." The episode (which was taped in advance) is scheduled to air on Tuesday, September 18.
According to the New York Post, Romney has been quoted discussing how impressed he is with how great she looks already since having the baby. Polizzi bragged to reporters that she put on makeup and false eyelashes while she was delivering the baby so that she would look nice for the newborn named Lorenzo when he had his first opportunity to see his mommy.
Romney, allegedly a devout Mormon and former pastor, may regret his words of praise for the TV star. Once the Christian right gets wind of him saying, "Look how tiny she's gotten... She's lost weight... She's energetic... Just her spark-plug personality is kind of fun..." voter polls may take a nose dive.
(Actually, they may fall faster than her panties come off whenever she's caught on camera out somewhere partying.)
The self-proclaimed Guidette is famous for her binge drinking, casual sex antics, and most recently for getting engaged after she found out she was having a baby. Claiming she's reformed her drinking ways, the new mom has been devoting all of her time to caring for the baby.
The MTV network has announced that the final episodes of "Jersey Shore" are on their way. As a reality television series, the show has influenced countless teens and twenty-somethings already -- leading them to believe that binge drinking and casual sex encounters are things to be glorified rather than abhorrent behavior.
To that end, while Romney saying that he even knew who the reality star was might have been cute and attempt to make himself look like he was more in touch with the American mainstream. But, by the time the free press coverage of his quotes from this particular press junket stop circulating, the Republican may simply end up looking disingenuous at best or at worst silly.
What do you think, readers? Do you think Mitt Romney was really aware of what type of young lady Nicole Polizzi he seems to be? Do you think he's ever really watched an episode of Jersey Shore or did he make a snap judgment based on headlines and entertainment news articles from places like People magazine (where the new mom was prominently featured on the cover recently)?
