But on her October 7 segment on the show, Snooki confessed that her battle with eating disorders "got really, really bad." She links her anorexic phase with her desire to become a cheerleader in high school.
"Cheerleading was my life in high school but it wasn't always easy for me," she said. "I started to be anorexic. There were these little girls coming up, like freshmen, who were literally, like, 70 pounds."
Worried that someone lighter would steal her chance in the spotlight, "I ended up starving myself," Snooki admitted. "I started eating one salad a day, and then it became, like, one cracker a day, and then it became just one grape a day. And then… just not eating at all for three days. It was a really, really, bad time for me."
Crying as she recalled that dark period, Snooki emphasized that she looks forward to creating "new positive memories." As to why she opened up now, the tiny celebrity hopes that she can help her fans struggling with similar problems. And she believes that most teenage girls can learn from her battle.
"I definitely though I should bring it up on this show because a lot of kids watch, and I just wanted kids to know they can overcome it," she told Us. "I think a lot of high school kids go through that, I think every girl struggles with that at some point, so it's important."
