A full trailer for Disney and Pixar "Monsters University" is coming next week, but for those who can't wait -- and who can wait for the prequel to the smash 2001 film "Monsters, Inc." -- an extended preview (embedded) was released on Friday.
Until now anxious university goes haven’t seen much about the film aside from the first teaser trailer which was attached to "Brave" last summer and the viral college ad.
This extended preview features director Dan Scanlon speaking about the June 21 release. Scanlon, a first-time Pixar feature film director (he did direct the "Cars" short “Mater and the Ghostlight”) discusses the plot. Previously-unseen footage and conceptual artwork are also shown, and the featurette does show a few mild spoilers about the film, so those who want to be completely surprised might want to skip it.
Aside from the preview and the other two videos, in October of last year, Disney and Pixar unveiled the Monsters University campus, via an "official" website. As detailed as any real university's website, images of "students" scroll across the home page, and visitors can read about the school's history, campus life and visit the Admissions Department to find out how to submit an application for enrollment.
The official synopsis of the film is as follows:
Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.
The film features the voices of Billy Crystal (Mike), John Goodman (Sully), Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray and Peter Sohn. The film is set to release on June 21.
