Snarf's comes to Denver with delicious, cheap sandwiches

A Snarf 7" sandwich gives a full day of satisfaction

When given the option of having sandwiches or Chinese, I will almost always go for Chinese--I don't know, I think sandwiches are always so ho-hum. After I did a favor for one of my writing pals, she treated me to lunch and gave me the choice: sandwich (boring), Chinese (exotic, adventurous, wondrous, etc.). Yet, we were standing in front of this new sandwich shop, and I was looking up at the sign, and looking into all the commotion going on betwixt the happy eaters inside, and this place was called Snarf's, and Snarf's? I had to.

Goodbye dim sum, hello turkey and provolone. Little did I know,  I would soon be eating the most mouth-watering gorgeous sandwich of my life. Snarf's (1001 E. 11th) is a newbie shop that trekked all the way to Denver after having much success with the hungry ruffians of Boulder. After taking one bite of my sammy, there was no doubt as to Snarf's much appreciated contribution to Denver's food life.

Snarf's knows how to make a sandwich because they have a sign that reads, "All sandwiches are made with: mayo, mustard, hot pepper relish, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, seasonings and oil." They're not giving you the option of trying to discover the perfect combination of sandwich yumminess, they're telling you exactly what makes Snarf delicious (if you're scared of these ingredients--allergies accepted--you shouldn't be allowed to eat out anyway, just stay at home and stick with a safe bowl of Top Ramen.)

A 7" sub runs for $6.50 (you can go bigger or smaller if needed) and comes in styles like Vegetarian, which consists of provolone, sprouts, and avocado. There's also the classic BLT, or Italian made of salami, pepperoni, capicolla and mortadella with provolone. If you're palate needs a little more exercise try a specialty Snarf for $7.65 with sandwiches like BBQ Brisket and Swiss, Prime Rib and Provolone, or Egg Plant Parmesan. Salads are also available for around $8 and they come with toasted bread and your choice of homemade dressing. Speaking of homemade, there's also soup and Potato Macaroni Salad. Or you can just add a bag of chips, they have Miss Vickie's chips (hooray Salt and Vinegar) for an extra .95.

My first Snarf was the Vegetarian. It was glorious. The hot pepper relish combined with creamy avocado and mild provolone was a dynamite combination. Most importantly, the bread was perfect. Snarf's toasts every sandwich just right so their baguettes are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Throw in fresh and favorite ingredients and you get the best sandwich of your life. By adding a salty crunch of Miss Vickie's and a couple deep swigs of mango infused Iced Green Tea, you get the perfect lunch: happy stomach, happy life.

Oh yes,  there's dessert. A mini-version of an ice cream shop hangs out next to the cash register so you can sweetly top your lunch with a $1.90 scoop.
