The Snapchat hackers posted all of the information to the site SnapchatDB.info, though the site has been taken down for now. Supposedly the hackers took the Snapchat information to expose loose security measures by the popular app.
The hackers gave a statement to TechCrunch, explaining that they wanted to raise awareness of the security issue and put pressure onto Snapchat to implement a fix. Though the issue is just becoming public now, the hackers indicate this has been an issue they've been tracking for some time.
SnapchatDB said they censored the last two digits of the phone numbers they posted, but they are considering releasing the full user phone numbers. Who is behind SnapchatDB and the Snapchat hack? That much remains unknown for now.
Will the Snapchat hacking incident slow down the love users have for the app? That much remains to be seen.
