The wildly popular Snallygaster beer festival returns to DC on Saturday, October 19. The festival, a brainchild of the beer masters behind popular bars like Churchkey, have culled together the finest craft beer both locally and nationally into one huge festival.
Last year’s festival drew huge crowds to sample everything from Belgium lambics to wooden cask ale pours. The beer was ample, the food was delicious and it left Washingtonians wanting more. This year, the festival moves from the southwest waterfront to the newly renovated Union Market and has expanded the list to include more than 200 artisanal craft beers that are hand picked by Beer Director Greg Engert. There will be more than 75 seasonal selections, 16 gravity kegs from Germany, 6 wood-clad kegs, 10 cask ales and rare local brews.
The whole festival will benefit Arcadia Farm and Mobile Market, which brings food to underserved populations on their market bus. Entry is only $10 donation, but there are packages that are worth the price, including the $30 Kraken package which includes 25 food and drink tickets and a Snallygaster beer mug, or the Jabberwock for $50, which gives you an hour earlier access and 30 food and drink tickets. One ticket = $1 and drinks range from 3-6 tickets per tasting and 5-9 for a full pour.
