Quite incredibly, a snake and crodile were in a battle that has been caught on cameras at a Queensland lake in Australia, according to a CBS report on Monday evening, and the snake ate the crocodile. Specifically, the snake and croc battled at Lake Moondarra near Mount Isa on Sunday – for some five hours before the snake ate the croc.
Tiffany Corlis - a woman who lives at Mount Isa - was told by canoeists who were racing on the lake near her residence, that the assault on the crocodile by the snake was happening. She immediately interrupted her breakfast, picked up her camera and took many pictures that fairly well document the gigantic snake’s assault on the much smaller crocodile. The crocodile was reportedly about a meter long in length.
When Corlis first came on the scene, the python already coiled itself around the crocodile and was strangling it. She said that the crocodile was fighting at the start, so it was trying to keep its head out of water and survive. But as the struggle progressed, both the snake and the croc got weaker, she said.
Corlis said, “Finally, the croc sort of gave in and the snake had uncoiled for a little while and had a brief break, and then actually started to consume the crocodile.” She called the sighting “just unbelievable... <the snake> actually ate the crocodile.”
Corlis said that when she looked at the snake, she could actually see the crocodile’s ridges, legs and everything inside the snake’s belly.
