As the Holiday season approaches, many of us are planning for our Holiday travel. Often times, we forget to pack up healthy snacks for ourselves and our family.
You may be thinking that it is inevitable that you gain weight as you travel for the Holidays, but this does not have to be the case this year! Here are some healthy snacking tips:
Prepare, prepare, prepare! This is the best advice I can give you as to how to eat smart when you are traveling this Holiday season.
Take a cooler and pack your fresh fruits, veggies and bottled water.
In addition, take along your granola bars, fiber bars and protein bars.
Peanut butter and almond butter travel well, even without a cooler. Peanut and almond butter are both high in protein, so bring along your butters, sprouted wheat bread and crackers. This will provide you with lunch or a snack.
Almond butter is super easy to make at home! Just place your almonds in a food processor (about 3 cups) and using an S blade process for 15-20 minutes until butter is formed.
Unopened Gatorade is also easy to travel with because you do not need a cooler for that either. (Although water is the best option for quenching your thirst. In addition, water does not contain sodium as the sport drinks do.
Always pack nuts: almonds, walnuts or pistachios. These are great for protein and snacking.
Along with the water in your cooler, pack sliced lunch meats and cheese for sandwiches.
Don't forget your vitamins!
