Officials announced the identity of a Smyrna man this morning who was found dead this weekend close to Fontaine Road and Nickajack Creek, near Smyrna's East-West Connector. He was found nearly a month after a Mattie's Call was issued.

While out searching for mushrooms at around 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, two men stumbled upon the body of Micah James LaBorde. LaBorde was reported missing last month after he left his home in the Smryna area and never returned. His family stated that he disappeared with a handgun and that he may have taken a large amount of medication before leaving. A Mattie's Call was issued for LaBorde on March 10. Authorities searched throughout nearby areas but were unable to find him.

At this time, the death is being ruled as a suicide. In a press release this morning, Smyrna police Officer C.D. Graeff stated that no foul play is suspected at this time.
