Aside from checking your emails, what do you do most of the time on your smartphone? Text messaging, right? App developers know that and they come up with a variety of applications for consumers to assist them in this matter.
AppRedeem, the same developer that created AppTrailers, has just launched their new mobile app Smug Messenger. AppTrailers allow users to watch teasers of mobile applications so they can have a glimpse of the functions it offers before they download it. AppRedeem seems to be changing gears and now shifting its focus from promoting applications.
Over 90% of AppStore’s 100 top grossing developers are using AppRedeem to reach out to its audience and drive more engagement to their applications. The 10M users of this advertising and promotional platform do not seem to be using it habitually, according to CEO Sheffield Nolan. Checking out new apps and their features is not something people do regularly.
Invite Friends, Earn Points, Enjoy More Features
Smug Messenger is an instant messaging platform unlike any other. It works with all Android devices, iOS devices and even Wi-Fi only devices that do not have a phone number. That means you can download it even if you only have an iPod or Wi-Fi only iPad. You can send and receive messages as long as you are connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or data plan.
Releasing the new app to an already saturated instant messaging app market has been a challenge. The team worked with developing Smug Messenger and has used their rewards program in conjunction with the feature-rich app. By inviting friends to download the Smug Messenger, users can earn points which can be swapped over with Paypal or Amazon gift cards. In the Android version, the points can be exchanged for bitcoin.
Smug Messenger allows users to send more than text messages but also photos, videos and voice mails (with the tap to talk feature). You can also manipulate photos with your fingers and send photo doodles to people on your address book. Inviting your Smug friends to a group chat is also possible with this app.
The points are rewarded once your friends have downloaded the app and joined the Smug community. Exploring the features of the app by sending videos and voice mails also earns you points. You can use those points to buy sticker packs too. This will your Smug experience and messages more colorful and fun.
In the future, developers aim to introduce VoIP calling as well as the ability to share revenues by allowing other mini-game and sticker pack developers to advertise in their messaging app. Some users may experience bugs with the app if they have a large phone book and the team promises to release an update including the fixes to this bug.
In days when the user is not active on Smug Messenger, there will be advertisements that can be seen on the messaging history from advertisers on AppTrailers. Sponsored ads will appear on the inbox of the users. Smug Messenger is now live and downloadable from the App Store and Google Play.
