SMU to face Nevada in Hawaii Bowl

SMU will face Nevada in the Hawaii Bowl (SMU Athletics)

SMU will play its first bowl game in 25 years on Christmas Eve in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl against the University of Nevada.

The “All Grit, No Quit” Mustangs (7-5) tied Houston for first place in the Conference-USA West with a 6-2 record. Nevada’s Wolf Pack lost its first three games then won its next eight before losing 44-33 to undefeated Boise State in the Western Athletic Conference championship game. Nevada will be playing in its fifth straight bowl game and second Hawaii Bowl since 2005. That year, the Wolf Pack won a shootout over Central Florida, 49-48 in overtime.

Kickoff for the Eighth Annual Sheraton Hawaii Bowl is set for 7 p.m. CST on Thursday, December 24th. ESPN will televise the game live from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
