There is no sport where technology plays more of a factor not only for participants, but also for fans, than the sport of golf.

SMT/IDS, a leading provider of data integration, graphics presentation, scoring solutions and on-site services has recognized this and how it related to live sporting events and television broadcasts.

They are experts on providing their clients and sports fans with real-time scoring, various statistics, virtual insertion and messaging features.

In fact, SMT/IDS is excited to bring their technology along with video presentation services to The Barclays, the first of four FedExCup Playoff events to wrap up the 2014 PGA Tour season.

Enhancements include:

- Installation of a new fiber digital television network to improve viewer's experience
- Eight on-course LED video boards
- These will be located at the driving range, practice green, the spectator village, 18th green, 18th tee, 17th green, 15th green and 5th greens.

“With the addition of our TIPS/IPTV system for The Barclays, this event has become one of the most technologically advanced tournaments in professional golf,” explains Ryan McDonald, SMT/IDS Senior Business Development Manager. “This is a little nerdy, but we’ll have 3,833,856 pixels in LED - by far the most we have ever done on a golf course. As our partnership continues to flourish, we expect to enrich the fan experience with our innovative on-site technology.”

Word to the wise- stay on the lookout for SMT/IDS technologies.

The Barclays will be played Aug. 19-24, 2014 at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J.
