If you’re looking for a healthy recipe for a quick meal or snack, a smoothie is perfect! Here’s a green smoothie recipe that’s so packed with vitamins and minerals that you can feel yourself pert up just drinking it!
The great thing about a smoothie is that you can make it the same way or a different way every time. This smoothie recipe looks green, but actually has strawberries and orange juice in it. You can include any fruits you have on hand, just make the base of it a handful of spinach or kale. The powerful punch of vitamins is going to rev up your system.
So, is it better to use spinach or kale? Each has tons of vitamins and is great for you. It will depend on your personal taste. Both are good sources of iron, fiber, and lots of vitamins and minerals.
While you’re drinking down this yummy smoothie, think for just a minute what it’s doing for you:
Spinach: Considered one of the world’s healthiest foods, it’s full of iron and other valuable properties that protect your body against illness.
Strawberries: Great source of Vitamin C, potassium, and so many other things to protect your body.
Avocado: One of the benefits of avocado is that it helps your body with the absorption of vitamins and minerals – so adding it to the smoothie makes the smoothie healthier!
Orange juice: We all know that oranges are a great source of Vitamin C – great for fighting off illness, giving you energy, and wonderful for your skin. They are also high in other vitamins and minerals. (If you’re using fresh oranges to make the juice, let the oranges come to room temperature, then firmly roll each on the counter by pushing down with your palm. This will help the fruit release the juice better.)
Green Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients for a Green Smoothie:
- A handful of spinach leaves, washed (or a handful of kale, if you prefer)
- ½ avocado, peeled
- 6 – 8 strawberries or any other berries you want to use
- ½ cup orange juice (fresh if you have it)
Directions for making a Green Smoothie:
Throw all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
