It looks like another dicey summer for Bay Area smooth jazz fans.
There was a time – and it really wasn’t that long ago – that the genres biggest stars were staples at major winery concert series from San Jose to Healdsburg, to say nothing of the late-summer jazz festival at Concord Pavilion. A few smooth jazz acts still play the wineries but fans are wise to keep an eye out for the stray concert date here or there. There’s no getting around the fact it’s largely hit-and-miss.
With one exception.
Husky Shows continues to produce a summer smooth jazz series at the Red Lion Hotel Woodlake in Sacramento. The setting is a grassy, open-air venue not far from the thrum of Business I-80 traffic. Tickets for individual shows go on sale Wednesday.
May 30: Spyro Gyra with Cindy Bradley
June 28: Summer Xplosion Band with Brian Simpson,Eric Darius, Nick Collione and Phil Perry
July 19: Jazz Attack with Peter White, Rick Braun, and Euge Groove
