In Indonesia 2 year-old Aldi Rizal smokes nearly 40 cigarettes a day and if you attempt to not give him his nicotine, he will go into a rage and have tantrums. Not only is this child overweight, he is unfit to play with other kids his age, and obviously addicted to cigarettes at the tender age of 2 years old.
His father apparently got him started to becoming a severe smoker after letting him take his first puff at 18 months old. Now the village they live in has offered them a new car if they would make Ardi quit, but the family turned down the offer.
According to The Sun, his mother Diana, 26, wept: "He's totally addicted. If he doesn't get cigarettes, he gets angry and screams and batters his head against the wall. He tells me he feels dizzy and sick."
Watching the video below you would almost believe it is trick photography, but it is sadly very real.
In Florida there are two beneficial organizations to help you quit smoking and keep Florida Tobacco Free.
Each year, thousands of Floridians quit using tobacco. Many more try, but fail. The Florida Quitline was established to help those with a desire to free themselves from cigarettes, smokeless and all other forms of tobacco to successfully reach their goal, and offers all of its services free of charge.

His parents must be very stupid, because he's fat and going to die ethier way
thiiz shyt iz crazy hiz mom and dad should go to jail for that
That is child abuse...now if a normal American did that we sould be sitting in prison for the rest of our lives! Ignorant MF
U fukin serious. Dhis is jus sad n everyway. This is exaclty way u call irresponsible parents. His dad got him started. Kill da fuker.
OMG now I have officially heard everything! This is absolutely crazy and 100% child abuse! This poor child will have such a short life with so many things against him and totally his parents fault!
I saw this video on the local news and again on the Early Show this morning. It was almost painful to watch this little guy smoking. His parents claim he throws tantrums if he does not get cigarettes and that is why he is given them. Big deal! My 3 year old throws a tantrum if he doesn't get ice cream for breakfast but that doesn't mean he has a Sundae ever morning! This is child abuse, pure and simple and I hope the exposure leads to some protective action being taken.

How is this any different than parents bringing their kids to Mcdonalds or Burger King everyday?? Fast food is a slow death, no different.
for one how many Indonesians are called Diana? and which of them use the term "batters"??? don't believe everything you read!
There is just no intelligent way anyone could compare this to allowing a child to eat at McDonald's. Temper tantrums? Who is in charge? the kid or the adults that try to be adults. The father needs to be imprisoned and never, ever be allowed to have any contact ever again with this child. Temper tantrums can be controlled with behavoral controlling medication and the child weaned off the damn cancer sticks. But it has to begin immediatley!!! NO EXCUSES!!!!
The reason he smokes is to curb the shakes from his Meth habit
too many of them anyway.
Yes... throw the parents in jail and put the kid on psyche meds for his tantrums... that'll make 'em all happy... stay out of everybodys business you leftie loons!
Obama used to look just like that when he was an Indonesian puffing pre-schooler.
OMG im a smoker and as hard as it is to breath and even quit i cant believe that his parents would ever fathom the thought of doing this to a baby. My heart bleeds
@Mike: yeah, Your mom looks like an overweight cigarette smoking Indonesian child like this one. Take that 'Obama' crap somewhere else. this is about a CHILD, not because you're upset that McCain did win with his old ass. Shut up and be serious for once.
It's a shame. That a child only two years old will probably not live to see the age of 12 because of smoking like that. Smoking 40 cigarettes a day is NOT healthy, even to adults! D:
*didnt
LOL @ Wow..right? Don't talk about Obama unless you can literally say it to his face. On one note, he is a child, so someone introduced him to that bad habit...another thing,,,just stop giving them to him, which is more valuable, his life or his bad habit. They may not have the same laws as us, but he is human...start him off slow, for every laps he does, he gets one,,,from his last pack. I helped someone kick the habit by keeping them distracted,,,he wasn't 2 yrs old, but I do have a son who just said the boy doesn't understand what he's doing.
Of all the atrocities going on for children in this and other 3rd world countries, Americans love to take something like this and flip out. Flip out that this kids father might have been unemployed with all of the other men in his village for 2 years and not because he is lazy or stupid but because the jobs just aren't there; or how about the sister or friend or cousin or neighbor of this toddler who was sold either into servitude (after being told they were going to a better school/life in the city) or sex slavery? What about the scores of homeless kids in the streets outside the frame of this horrid picture? They are hungry, uneducated and addicted to huffing or worse.
Who cares about these people until we spread an image around the world of a kid smoking, It's terrible, it's sad, it's gross.
Is it really the worst of the issues battering any other South Sumatran? Get outraged, yes but also GET REAL.
is the blog unmoderated?
i'm amazed at some of the posts getting through. it devalues this blog.
it is hard to comment on the story at hand, with so little info. i don't know if the family are literate, i don't know the smoking legislation in INdonesia. I am horrified that a child is smoking an addictive substance that i know causes cancer. Everywhere in the world, children mimic what is around them, mimic what they see adults around them do, love to put anything they see in their mouth. I received alot of parent education, esp about the importance of modelling positive behaviours and the dangers of smoking esp in regarde to children.
without indepth reporting of the situation, this just seems like a knee jerk "sound bite" story, that makes first world people feel smug, and demonises "other" cultures. The reality is, bad things happen to two year olds the world over.
This is soo shocking, you get werid things & crazy things happening in the world but for an 2yr old smokeing ? hes only a baby Oh C`mon something needs to be done about this , wheres the help where you need it , its not the toddlers fault . Then again why has this childs parents let this happen ? Instead of buying cigarettes the parents should of been buying needs that an 2yr old toddler needs , poor boy , his parents need to stand up to there mistake and get help for there child before its to late .
Well many say we shouldn't let stupid people breed - if stupidity is hereditary then his parents are certainly going to stop him from breeding - he will probably die of lung cancer or some other smoking related disease before hes old enough to have his own kids.
THIS IS NOT A 2 YEAR OLD - WATCH HIM FLIP CIG THRU FINGERS NO 2 YEAR OLD COULD DO THAT - I BELIEVE THIS IS A MIDGET - WHAT A JOKE ON THE PUBLIC - OBVIOUSLY NEWS PEOPLE DID NOT CHECK OUT FULLY.
Before everyone starts making unessecary comments, this was obviously in a foreign country where people didnt think smoking was bad, just like in the 1950's
well, for you guys who think the video was fake, you are wrong. this sadly really happens. I am Indonesian and live in Java here for 25 years. I don't have to go to Sumatra just to watch kids smoking, but i just have to believe it. smoking is not a caution. it's a habit. many teenager starts smoking at 12 y.o
and I saw with my own eyes 5 y.o sucking those cigars.
parents can forbid their children not to smoke, but not after those children get to be a teenager.
you can freely smoke here.

I read a stupid comment about Indonesian named Diana, well, do you know that western name is preferred by Indonesian? and for you guys who think the video was fake, you are wrong. this sadly really happens. Sadly, I do not believe he can light up his own cigarette which therefore means his parents have to light up forty cigarettes a day for him - unreal.
My son is 18 months (the same age this boy was when he took his first drag) and he wouldn't know what to do if I put a cigarette in his mouth. He'd either take it out and look at it or he'd chew on it. I'm not saying I don't believe this story, I just don't know if I should.
Watch the clips from CNN. This is a REAL Story.
And a sad one. :(
I highly think this is wrong! And obviously everyone else thinks the same. I blame both of the parent especially the FATHER! He was stupid and he should be ashamed of himself for giving his own child a 'puff' of his own cigarette. I blame the mother also, she should stand up for herself and her own child and be the mother she really is and say "Don't give that to my child!". I find this totally WRONG! they should be ashamed of themselves...
I feel depressed
Man his dad is such an a**, they should get supernanny down.
Sav? Jersey sav
Nice! Looks like they have freedom to make their own decisions in life. I've seen a lot worse in American parenting feeding their children fastfood and limiting the excercise to create a race of obese and overweight childern!
sad....
Smoke that shiz my lil man! life is a long road. the best way through it. Is the tarred path.
LOL I MAKE JOKE! kID STOP IT LEAVE SMOKING TO YOUR ELDERS SON
I really think this is a very sad situation for the parents, as well as the child. It looks to me that the two year old child has the upper hand. On the other hand, I seriously think the parents need to be punish for this outrage; especially the father because he should have known better giving his baby a cigarette in the first place at the age of 18 months. I would say lock the parents up and give the child to someone who will raise him up the right way; and if they have other children, take them too. These parents are pathetic and must don't no what home training is. The BIBLE say train your child while they are young; not train them to smoke, drink, etc. These peoples must be ANTICHRIST for sure.
WOW so not cool dude
stupidasses
