For decades marijuana smoking has been called stupid, dumb, illegal, ignorant and just about any other word you can think of. However, a recent 20 year study released in “The Journal of the American Medical Association” shows evidence that not only is smoking marijuana not dangerous to your health directly, but that there is evidence showing it actually improves your lung function. 5,115 men and women in 4 US cities, both black and white people were studied.
The study as reported by Fox News says that those that abuse marijuana may find that the study does not prove anything negative could take place in their health. It only profiled the participants smoking about a joint a day. Lifetime exposure to marijuana joints was expressed in joint-years, with 1 joint-year of exposure equivalent to smoking 365 joints or filled pipe bowls. Smoking marijuana as often as one joint daily for seven years, or one joint weekly for 20 years was not linked with worse problems.
Very few study participants smoked more often than that. Smoking marijuana obviously does not produce the harmful effects to your body that smoking cigarettes do and when it comes to air pollution the study actually looked at the effects of marijuana smoke over cigarette smoke. Already marijuana has been approved for pain relief but little people know what large list of health benefits marijuana carries.
