Smokey is making a Valentine’s plea for his 'true love'

Adoption events can be difficult for some cats and for potential pet parents – trying to find the perfect match between humans and felines. Adoptable cats do not always show well at these events and their true personalities are not displayed. And potential adopters may find it difficult to focus when there are so many cats from which to choose.

Smokey is a suave and debonair gentleman kitty currently available for adoption from SNAP-2 IT in metro Atlanta. He has had a tough time putting his best paw forward at adoption events and is still looking for his perfect forever home. He is a two year old medium haired gray tabby. Smokey decided to take a shot at writing his own “lonely hearts ad” (from the SNAP-2 IT blog):

"You can probably guess why I’m named Smokey. I’m a lovely gray – my full mane of soft fur is my best feature – and my foster mother tells me that I move from room to room just like a puff of smoke, too. I have clear green eyes, a white muzzle, and long white whiskers. I feel a little silly writing you instead of gathering up the courage to meet you in person, but I thought if we got to know each other this way first, it might make things a little easier.

I’m a young cat - just two years old – so I have a lot of years of loving left in me! When it’s just me and my foster mother, I love to lounge in her lap and make little kitty biscuits on her stomach. My favorite Big Daddy Smokes position is stretched out completely on my back so that you can give me tummy rubs. But if a stranger enters the room….poof! I become – you guessed it – a cloud of smoke.

I get along just fine with other cats but haven’t been around dogs very much. It’s humans that spook me sometimes - that’s all. Please don’t take it personally. It’s not that I don’t trust you . . . I’m just one of those really shy guys who has to get to know you first. After I give you my heart, though, buckle up for the full Smokey love experience!

You should know that I have to have a special type of food – not gourmet or anything, you can buy it at a regular store – but I do have a sensitive tummy. My foster mom can tell you all about it. I’m not a picky eater, though. I’m very healthy, neutered so no pesky tomcat behavior, and even microchipped!

My perfect home would have people who are loving and patient enough to let me settle in before they expect too much interaction with me. My new family members will let me set my own boundaries…but I promise, I won’t take too long to settle in. I can be an only cat, or hang out with other cats – doesn’t matter much to me! I know that true love can’t be measured in money, but my adoption fee is just $25. I hope you don’t think I’m cheap or anything for bringing it up.”
