Smashburger brings fresh flavors to Kalamazoo

Right on the heels of the grand opening of Central City Tap House, Kalamazoo has another restaurant opening to celebrate this week. Smashburger is located at 4315 West Main Street, just east of Drake Road, and is scheduled to open this Wednesday, August 11th.

As the name implies, this restaurant specializes in burgers -- 100% Certified Angus Beef burgers, to be exact. As diners enter the restaurant, they'll be able to customize their burger order, including the type of bun, the toppings and the cheese, right at the front counter. There are also some specialty burger options available, such as the BBQ, Bacon and Cheese burger or the Mushroom Swiss burger. The cooking staff promptly whips up the customer's creation in just minutes (no frozen patties here!) ensuring that every order is made fresh. With juicy meat, artisan-style buns and quality cheese, customers get much more than the average "fast food" fare at this burger joint.

Not in the mood for a burger? No problem. Smashburger will also serve chicken sandwiches, salads and hot dogs. In fact, some of the side options are just as tempting as the main course. Sides include veggies frites, rosemary and garlic-seasoned fries, beefy chili and haystack onions.

As with all Smashburger locations, the new Kalamazoo restaurant will have some locally focused menu options as well. The Michigan Olive Smashburger will feature chopped green olives, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo on an egg bun, while the Cherry BBQ Chicken Ranch Smashsalad will offer romaine, baby spinach and arugula topped with crispy or grilled chicken, applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, haystack onions, cheddar cheese, buttermilk ranch dressing and BBQ sauce made with real Michigan cherries.

As for pricing, a Smashburger starts at $4.29. Customers can choose a 1/4-lb, 1/3-lb or 1/2-lb burger. If you like it, you can look forward to five other Smashburger locations which are scheduled to open in Michigan over the next 3 years.
