"Smash" will air its second season on Channel 12 in Tempe. On Sunday, Jan. 6, From Inside The Box shared new details about the season ahead. Josh Safran has taken over this series for its second season. He just ended his time with "Gossip Girl" on CW in December. There are some changes coming to the series. However, the series will stay true to itself. From Inside The Box shared the following about what is next:
"New executive producer Josh Safran is making some big changes in Season 2, but he isn't looking to alter the DNA of the show. In addition to adding more cast members, he's introducing another musical in addition to 'Bombshell'; this time, an edgy off-Broadway show very much in the vein of 'Rent.' We got a sneak peek at Jeremy Jordan's performance from the show -- and we got all kinds of tingles."
Safran also teased the guest starring appearances set for season two. He said the following, according to Hollywood.com:
"We have Liza Minnelli, we have Sean Hayes, we have Bernadette Peters coming back for several episodes. It’s fun coming back on a show like this where you can sort of widen the worldview and show performers from other shows or bring in Broadway actors who play characters related to our cast."
Fans will see more of these changes when the series returns. This series is already generating buzz on social media. One fan said the following on Twitter:
