Former “Smash” actor and Tony nominee Will Chase has chosen television over live theater. On Tuesday, it was announced the actor would be dropping out of the musical “Little Miss Sunshine” and heading to ABC’s “Nashville” for a guest role.
Chase will play Luke, who is described as a successful and charismatic country music star, who may become romantically involved with Rayna (Connie Britton). There is no information at this time when his first episode will be or how long he’ll be sticking around.
When viewers last saw Rayna, she and Deacon (Charles Esten) were arguing in his car before getting into a serious accident that will have consequences for both of their careers as well as their romantic relationship once the show returns for its second season.
On “Smash,” Chase played Julia’s (Debra Messing) sometime lover Michael Swift, who made a surprise appearance in the series finale. His other TV credits include guest roles on “The Good Wife”, “Necessary Roughness”, “White Collar” and “Royal Pains.”
