NBC debuts a mid-season replacement show called “Smash.” The brainchild of Steven Spielberg, who also serves as executive producer, “Smash” centers on the creative process of a Broadway musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe.
Characters of the show include a songwriting team, a divorced producer, “bad boy” British director and, of course, actors—including a young newbie and an older actress with baggage. Notables Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing and Katherine McPhee (American Idol) star.
Each episode will feature musical numbers and lots of drama. Basically, it’s Glee for the non-teen crowd.
